Empty

I used to cry on a dime;
there are times when I still do.
I used to touch the skies
but slowly I am learning the truth.
The choices I've made have brought me here.
All the lives that I did trade,
their essence is withering near.
Am I something to be missed
or just a hungry soul?
Truth and hope is something wished,
but of these things still nothing I know.
Another day to force a smile,
another chance to pretend I'm fine.
The life I want has been gone a long while.
I am hurting, but the choice had been all mine.

Losing Grips

Look within my tangled mind
lost within the threads of time.
As I crawl to win this race
Chronos dances with melodic haste.
As they twirl, loved ones die.
With each jarring note new ones cry.
This madness builds while I seek to hide
but my mind reveals it all.

Get Over It

Sad little girl, why do you weep?
Broken little girl, was he a creep?
Hurt little girl, why feel the pain?
Loveless little girl, there was nothing to gain.
Open your eyes little girl, it will one day be better.
Do not despair little girl, life soon writes another love letter.

Closer Than Blood

You betrayed the trust that was so hard to attain.
Was it worth all that you gained?
I bared my soul
and your twisted goal left me filling the wound with my tears.
My hand was forced;
I've let you go.
I knew from the start you were bad to the core.
I couldn't help the way I felt
so you made me feel something new.
I've ripped apart my selfish heart and examined it just for you.
There are many more pieces on the ground
than if I were wholly new.

Too much

If I were to give you an ounce of my soul
you would take it for granted.
If I were to show you a glimpse of my heart
you would damage it with your greed.
I have nothing left to shed for you.
My abundance has fallen away.
All that remains is the core of me,
drained of the essence of life.
I cannot afford your grace any more
for there is nothing left of me to give.

The Haunting

Who are you woman than encompasses my dreams,
sending chills through my bones driving out internal screams?
I sought your face nightly as your ghost always eluded me.
I cried out your name wondering if you were ever really there!
I've been told so many stories, well I may have a few
but none of these tell the truth of your youth!
What is the gain then, having known you at all?
Must you always haunt me but run from my call?
I wish to release you and let go of this nightmare,
but I fear I am no longer complete.
Time has chipped away at the child
leaving the remains with an oddly shaped void.
At least I have been given relief in this moment
to clear my head for now,
knowing all too soon you'll find me again
and it seems now I won't stop until you do.

Daydream

I feel a flutter across my face.

A gentle dance, a soft embrace.

I know to listen, the night wind calls.

Perchance to follow, boundless dark.

But angry words she does now say

Why I left her and went astray

I answer not, might soon she forget?

The East Wind beckons and I regret.

I whisper 'peace' in the ancient tongue

And let her see that we are one.

I send her back on to her land

with a longing heart and visions grand!
